The Committee Investigating Intercountry Adoption in the past has the task of investigating the actual state of affairs regarding (old) adoptions from abroad and the role of the Dutch government in this. Initially, the committee will focus on Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The committee was established by Minister Dekker (Legal Protection) when information arose pointing to possible abuse with the adoption of babies in the seventies and eighties in which Dutch government officials might have been involved.
The committee consists of mr. T.H.J. (Tjibbe) Joustra LLM (chairman), mrs. prof. Dr. B.A. (Beatrice) de Graaf and mr. G.H.J. (Bert-Jan) Houtzagers LLM.
The minister asked the committee to submit a report by autumn 2020 at the latest.
